Our Story
In 1992, Sam Shapiro began trading scrap metal for David and Bruce Heimann’s Dart Metals Inc. After a five-year apprenticeship, Sam purchased certain assets of Dart Metals Inc. and formed Dart Metals Trading Co. in 1997. Don Oettinger joined Dart Metals in 2003, followed by Randy Offstein in 2004.
Built for the Long Term
Together, Sam, Don, and Randy helped build Dart Metals into a highly respected company, buying and selling tens of millions of pounds of scrap metal annually. Over the years, Dart Metals earned a strong reputation for honesty, hard work, and timely payment.
New Ownership. Expanded Capabilities.
In 2024, Sam sold Dart Metals to Joseph Krash, opening a new chapter for the company. Under new ownership, Dart Metals has expanded its capabilities and now offers material processing in addition to its long-established trading operations.
